How To Trade In Car for Better Miles Per Gallon
As much as we all wish it was not so, gas prices are not going to come down. Given this, the only way to spend less on gas is to drive less or get a vehicle that gets better MPG (Miles per Gallon). When doing the math to determine the breakeven point between what you're going to have to pay for a vehicle with better MPG versus what you're paying for gas, Tcat has found a way to improve the equation for you while searching for a rig getting better MPG.
The answer may seem a little convoluted, so please bear with me. It turns out, the pickup truck from Toyota known as the Tacoma manufactured between 1995 and 2000 is experiencing abnormal frame deterioration. This affects more than 800,000 vehicles from Toyota. Of course this pickup truck is not known for getting great MPG. And if you don't own one, Tcat is suggesting you find a deal on a used one, for the affected model years.
Toyota is offering to buy back the impacted Toyota Tacoma's at 1 1/2 times the Kelley blue book value, regardless of its condition. Additionally, Toyota dealers are giving an additional $500 off a new or certified used Toyota. If you're in the market for a pickup, they'll double that and give you $1000 off. This is in addition to the very generous, Kelley blue book trade-in for the Toyota Tacoma.
Before you run out and buy a worn-out Toyota Tacoma, check with your local dealer. This offer is only being made in areas where the highway department puts salt on the roadways in the wintertime. So if you live in say Los Angeles, you're out of luck.
So even if you're not looking for a hybrid such as the Toyota Prius, by getting yourself a deal on a not very well cared for Toyota Tacoma and trading in for a Toyota that gets better MPG with the Kelley blue book bonus offer, you can quickly change the math in your favor in your calculations for the breakeven point for finding car that will give you better MPG and less pain at the pump.
