There is only a small amount of people that fully understand the information associated with telecom billing OSS. There is a vast amount of information that the general public does not get exposed to about the topic itself. This can make the topic seem very intimidating for most people to discuss. However, there are some basic factors that should be summarized for most people to understand in order to make the subject easier to discuss.

The term OSS stands for operational support system. The system is only used by telecommunication providers for their businesses that are associated with them. The term can be used to refer to network inventory and network systems associated with these companies. The term can also be used to refer to various components that need to be configured for the network or any other provisional services.

It is important not to confuse this with the term BSS. BSS stands for business support system. This term is somewhat new and is just recently starting to become popular. This refers to the businesses that have to take orders and deal with payments. In addition, the businesses also deal with customers and the processing of bills to those customers. While BSS and OSS should not get confused, they are often used together because of how they relate.

Before the year 1970, all tasks that were related to OSS were done by people. Afterward, it was realized that these same tasks could be accomplished by technology instead. This would make up for human labor over a period of time. This resulted in telecom companies creating their own computer systems that would allow them to complete and maintain the tasks without the use of individuals to do it for them.

Because of this decision, the Unix operating system and C programming were eventually designed. This was just the first of many other forms of technology that were designed and still affect the world on a daily basis. Despite this technology, the original computer systems that were used for OSS were not able to be networked together at the time. This would mean that tasks were completed on a separate system each time.

Since information could not be networked between the systems, the result was that an individual had to constantly transfer the information manually. This was done by the use of switches and plugs. Since networking had not yet been discovered completely or even perfected, this was the only way for information to be transferred between systems.

Although OSS has changed a vast amount since then, there are still some problems with the system. It is considered very expensive for upkeep and is thought to be too large. The telecom industry has a goal that eventually they will discover a way for OSS to become a smaller based system. This would be less expensive and would be more organized as a result. Because of this goal, there is constant research to change the production of OSS itself.

There is a very large amount of information to be understood about telecom billing OSS as a whole. The information that is given here can only be considered the very basics for any discussion as this includes basic parts of the the associated history. It is important to note that the technology is continually changing as time progresses. The main hope is that eventually telecom OSS will evolve into a more sophisticated technology for all telecom companies.
