The machine delivers excellent monochrome printing capabilities along with a functionality that will be pleasing to most any workgroup and business considering buying this relatively low-priced and reliable printer that seems well-made for just about any printing circumstance or condition.

HP has taken the 4100tn and given it a number of attractive features not often found in a monochrome workgroup printer in this price point. In fact, it matches up quite well with other competitors costing several hundred dollars more, and the competitors in its own segment are continually pressed to keep up with it in terms of performance and price.

Print speeds as listed by Hewlett-Packard for the 4100tn are a fine 25 pages per minute of quality copy. When one considers that a refurbished unit can be purchased for about $220, one will realize that the printer being purchased is well worth the money. It also has hundred and 10 different fonts and a nice 250 MHz microprocessor that'll be able to handle any number of nearly-simultaneous print tasks from a large number of workgroup users.

Standard memory is also typical of Hewlett-Packard, and this machine comes with 32 MB. RAM can be upgraded all the way to 250 MB, but most were groups probably wouldn't need that much memory, no matter the size of the print job that's being tasked to the printer itself. Check with the IT folks to see just how much additional memory will be needed before spending more money.
