The Xerox WorkCentre M20i printer using Xerox WorkCentre M20i toner is a machine designed for businesses. This machine is more than just a printer; it is also a fax, copier and scanner. Its one limitation is that the copies it produces are black only. Businesses desiring a color printer will find that Xerox has other options that better suit their needs.

The WorkCentre M20i offers several ways to connect to your network. While it still offers the old fashioned parallel printer port, you can also connect using a USB2 connector, as well as a 10/100 Ethernet connection. Thus, the printer should connect easily to any network with ease.

As equipped, the machine has a 100 sheet bypass tray and a 550 sheet standard tray. An optional 550 sheet tray can be added to the machine to allow for storage of up to 1,200 sheets of paper at one time. The 550 sheet trays allow addition of a full 500 sheet ream of paper to be added when paper is low. The maximum print cycle is 20,000 sheets per month and the total recommended print cycle is 7,500 sheets per month.

Your first copy will be ready for your use in under 8 seconds. Once you start making prints, the remaining prints are produced at 22 pages per minute. Faxes can be transmitted at three pages per second. Fax transmission can be delayed in order to take advantage of phone rates when they are lower and the battery back up for the fax will last up to 100 hours on a full charge.

This machine produced by Xerox offers a print resolution of 600 x 600 dpi. You do have the option of up to 1200 x 1200 interpolated print resolution. The proffered 600 x 600 dpi resolution is almost a minimum standard for printers today and is certainly sufficient for black prints. Additionally, scan resolution is also the 600 x 600 dpi and fax resolution is offered at up to 400 x 400 dpi.

The internal processor, rated at only 32-bit RISC, seems small when compared to many of the 700 MHz processors standard on the color printers, but is sufficient for the simpler monochrome printer. It is large enough to allow scanning of prints directly to your e-mail and is able to store 200 numbers for the fax in the 80 MB memory.

Several sizes and types of media can be used on this machine. Print sizes range from 5 x 7 to legal size. In addition the machine will automatically select the correct paper size for the print.

The half tone printing of this machine is a great feature that saves toner and makes prints with large black areas more readable. Rather than simply print these areas as dark black with no contrast, they are printed in grayscale. The grayscale keeps the prints designed for a color printer readable.

The Xerox WorkCentre M20i printer is a business machine that is multifunction. It is able to print, scan, copy and fax. Medium size workgroups will find that it is adequate to meet their needs. While prints are all in black, the machine does have the capability of scanning in color. It also offers several features that are not found in machines that are just printers. It is not a color printer, so if you must have color prints, check out some of the other Xerox machines.

For what this device offers, the Xerox WorkCentre M20i toner produces the sharp and clear prints every business wants. If saving money is also a priority for your business, find Xerox toner online from some of the reputable toner suppliers and get your best value.
