One of the most effective methods getting into good physical condition is to lose fat by boosting metabolism. Metabolism means the burning of calories consumed. When it is high your body's metabolism is burning more calories than when it is low. Meaning you lose weight rather than your body storing calories as fat. Many attempt to drop inches simply by not eating which does not work.

The result is people begin wanting food. This is only natural. To compensate for calories they did not eat the last two or three days, they overeat. If you have a sedentary life style and job, your metabolism needs to be raised not your food intake lowered. When you do not eat, the first thing your body does is feed off your muscle, not your fat.

A sedentary life leads to stored calories as fat because your metabolism is low. You need to turn calories into energy. You do this by increasing your metabolism. Food is energy. When you deprive your body of food you deprive your body of energy. You want to train your body to turn food into energy.

You will also have more pep throughout the day when you raise your metabolism. It is simple to raise your metabolism even if you sit down at work all day, but you have to get your body moving. You need to get your heart rate up and sustain it during your exercise session. Remember to check with your doctor before starting any exercise program. Think back to a time when exercise was automatic.

Remember your days in high school when you could eat anything and not gain weight? Back then you walked to school. You walked around campus. You were in gym class everyday. You were in practice for two or three hours a day if you were on the team. And you also played in the actual games each week.

Your metabolism was on fire then. Your body could barely get enough calories to keep you going. Now you ride or drive to work, you sit in your office chair all day, you get home feeling drained mentally and physically, you check the TV listings and snack yourself to sleep after a large dinner.

Getting to the spa is not easy, we all know that. So this month shoot for one trip after work per week. Next month shoot for two trips a week. Work up to three. Take a walk at lunch once a week. Work up to two per week, then three walks at lunch per week. You do not have to train for the Olympics simply get moving a little now and increase as the weeks go by.

On the weekend get out and play. Run around with your kids, shoot some baskets, and throw the Frisbee with friends. The best way to get into shape is to lose fat by boosting metabolism. So now go out there and move around and lose weight. Forget about not eating. Enjoy your food, but remember to turn your food into energy and have fun doing so just like you used to.
