Skagen watches are often pretty and convenient works of art. It is very important you know how to properly clean your watch. The steps to doing this depend on the type of material used in the wristband.

In order to avoid accidentally damaging or scratching the watch, it is necessary that you know the quick and easy to follow instructions for cleaning and caring for your Skagen watch. For metal watchbands, know that a special solution of cleaner will needed to be mixed together. It is important, however, that you are wearing rubber gloves for safety reasons while doing this.

After you put on your gloves you will need to mix together your cleaner. You can either use a rubbing alcohol and water mixture, or an ammonia-based window cleaner and water solution. Both cleaning solutions will work fine.

The recommended mixture for the ammonia-based window cleaner is three parts cleaner to one part water. The alcohol cleaner, however, should be mixed at four parts alcohol to one part water. Once you have your desired solution mixed, you will then need a rag or cloth with which to clean the watch. Dampen the rag in the solution, then ring it out completely. Gently wipe the cloth over the watch face and its case.

For the next step you can use either a rag or cotton swab, depending on your personal preference. However, for mesh watchbands, you will need a bristled brush, or toothbrush. Dip the tool into the solution and clean the watchband.

Again, if the strap is a mesh wristband, locate a bag or some sort of plastic that you can use to seal the watch face with. This will protect the face and keep any cleaning solution from getting inside. Soak the toothbrush bristles in the cleaning mixture and wash the band until the surface is clean.

You will need to follow a different set of cleaning steps if the band is made from any different material, such as rubber or leather. First, dampen the rag in clean water and wipe the wristband down. If your watchband is made from rubber, this will be all the cleaning it will require. However, a conditioner will have to be used if your watchband is made from leather.

This conditioner will assist in making sure your wristband does not dry out. It depends greatly on your situation. It is not recommended that you use this conditioner after every cleaning. When the band feels like it is drying out, or applying it after every couple of months or so are the two general standards to go by. After conditioning the leather, just wipe the wristband down with a clean, dry rag.

Skagen watches are practical and are great timepieces. It is always a good idea to adhere to the quick rules noted above when you clean your watch. By doing so, your watch will be kept safe while you are cleaning it. You will be able to thoroughly enjoy the convenience of your clean, reliable Skagen men's watch very soon.
