The Maldives - A Spectacular Quantity Of Paradise In Asia
At least once in people's daily lives, they look at a picture of a paradise with crystal-clear blue water and wish they could be there. It's hard to imagine places like this exist, but they are there. The difficult part is finding the real ones, the ones that aren't superficial and touristy. One very authentic one is the Maldives.
This location is world-renowned for being a gorgeous tropical location just off the coast of the Indian subcontinent. Just looking up the name online will bring up gorgeous pictures of clear turquoise water. You will need a passport if you are thinking of traveling to this destination, but that is easily done by filling out a passport application form.
If you decide to take your passport business online, you will discover that is much quicker (and causes much less stress) than the standard procedure. All passport services are available on your computer, including how to renew an American passport, how to change the name on a US passport if you just got married or divorced, applications for children's passports, and anything else you might need. Passport expediting is their main service, and this is useful for those who want their passport quickly.
Geographically, the Maldives are made up of 26 atolls, which are a little different from islands or archipelagos. Atolls are coral formations (generally ring-shaped) that cause the formation of countless tiny islets. The original names of these atolls are pretty intimidating (Maalhosmadulu Uthurubur is just one of them).
However, they have shorter names that describe geographical location instead of the actual formation. For instance, Maalhosmadulu Uthurubur is referred to as Raa. There are many of these regions, and tourists generally stick to a few. Senu is where you will be flying in, as it is where the airport is.
The capital city and largest city in the Maldives is Male. The city itself takes up an entire island, but the island itself is only 1.7 by 1.0 kilometers, making it a crowded place for the 100,000 people who live there. Nevertheless, it is a colorful city with rich Islamic heritage.
There is a lot to do in this city, such as visiting Friday Mosque. Non-Muslims are not allowed inside, but the outside is beautiful enough in itself. The Islamic Center is a very culturally relevant building in Male, and is very recognizable with its large golden domes.
As you can imagine, the main activities tourists do in the Maldives involve the water. Snorkeling, scuba diving, surfing, swimming, and sunbathing are popular activities. One popular option is taking the Whale Submarine.
The submarine takes you under the water off the coast of Male, where you will see all sorts of marine wildlife, including the possibility of seeing whales. Snorkeling and scuba diving are exceptional here, as the water is extraordinarily clear, thanks to the distance from any major landmass. Even around the capital city you will experience great diving.
Those who have visited the Maldives can attest to how gorgeous it actually is. If you have been searching all over for the perfect tropical vacation, look into visiting the Maldives. The best way to start any vacation, however, is to fill out a new passport application form so you can get you and your family passports. If you happen to already have a passport but it's expired, you can go to a passport services website to renew pasport.
