Serious Poker Players invest in their game.  They read books, they buy software, even take classes and go to Poker Training Camps.  These are all good investments if you use the information well.

There is one very inexpensive and effective simple little investment that can be just as important to your poker game, and it's something every poker player should consider.   It's a Poker Card Protector, or Card Guard.

It's simply a small token that you place over your hole cards in Texas Holdem Poker.  The idea is to keep your cards "guarded" or "protected" while at the table so your cards do not accidentally get mucked or discarded during play.

Dealers do their best, but being human, things can happen.  Your cards, without a card protector, can accidentally get pulled into the pile of discards when you had no intention of folding the hand.  Other players, when folding their hands can toss their cards towards the dealer and if their cards get mixed up with yours, your hand is dead.  This can be devastating to a poker player, and can even be the turning point in your game, costing you a pile of poker chips by sheer accident.

Player use all kinds of tokens and small objects to protect their cards.  The simplest way is to place a couple of chips on top of your cards.  This works fine, but most players want something a little more personal.  Many online Poker Shops offer a great selection of Poker Card Protectors.

They can be oversized coin design, spinners, and other objects, usually depicting some poker related image or saying, some very humorous, that are designed specifically for this purpose.  The selections can be enormous, very novel, and you can pick one or even several Poker Card Protectors that have some personal meaning to you.

They are usually very inexpensive and can one of the best investments you'll ever make in your game.  If you want to see a video that, although almost horrible to watch, can show you how you can lose a winning hand by accident. Click here to see the video. You can't help but feel sorry for the player, but it can show, in real action, how risky it is to play without a card protector of some kind.

Consider this small investment, and get yourself a Poker Card Protector or Card Guard so this doesn't happen to you.
