Your Poker Card Protector Can Be Almost Anything – Even If It Is Half Nutz

Poker Players use all kinds of things to cover their texas holdem poker card hand.  Some players don't use a card guard of any kind, but that's risky.  An accidentally mucked hand is no fun.  You can even use just a poker chip off your stack in its simplest form, but it's a good idea to put something on your cards.

At games everywhere, and on TV, you'll see a wide variety of objects used as a poker card protector.  Most people want one that's personal to them, or just something unusual or unique. 

I ended up with an unusual one somehow.  One day I found a half of a really large walnut shell on the patio.  It was a perfect half nut, hollowed out and dried out.  Somehow the term "Half Nutz" came to mind.  It seemed not only to fit in with poker, having the nutz... or at least half the nutz , and my occasional state of mind.  It was lightweight so I filled it with BB's and super glue and let it dry out. 

Then I painted it with a good gold paint that really gave it a metallic look.   I've had a lot of comments on it while playing... you can just imagine.  I have a couple other card protectors I've purchased so I don't use it every time I play, but I kind of favor it.

If you don't have some articles or objects to use as a poker card guard, there are all kinds of card guards and protectors available from online poker shops.  There are metal and pewter and even .999 fine solid sterling silver protectors that you can customize with engraved images and text.  These are  very personal and classy looking card covers.   You have lots of choices available with a wide variety of sizes, colors,  shapes, comments and sayings, NFL Team  Logo's,  spinners, and poker face characters.   There are a lot of choices and they start at about $7 and go up from there. 

Whether you find something you like, make your own card protector or get a couple you like from the PokerUpShop online store, you should protect yourself from poker tragedies like the one in this video.  Anyone who wants that to happen to their cards would have to be a bit more than just Half Nutz.
