With growing cultural impact and acceptance, anime has become a recent and unstoppable craze. Spanning every country and with thousands upon thousands of fans hailing from all around the world and calling themselves "Otaku"; Japanese anime has quickly become one of the premiere forms of animated entertainment in the world.

From the early 1930's when Japanese animation was nothing more than black and white cartoons in the form of cinema, animation has been a spectacle in Japan. Using the western success of Snow White in the 1960's, Japan advanced their own animation methods and by the 1970's had a small animation industry bustling within Japan. By the 1980's "anime" was beginning to make itself known to the western world and by 2000 Japanese animation was commonly known and broadcast even in western society.

One of the many fascinating allures of anime is by far the specialized and unique art style used in most series and films. Bringing together an incredible mix of drawn characters and painted backgrounds the final product of any anime is nothing short of stunning. With fast-paced animated sequences and sharp visual imagery anime is an exotic and pleasing visual experience for anyone.

With a diverse array of genres and plots, anime covers a sprawling catalogue of topics and subjects within itself. Touching on Japan's natural roots in Shinto beliefs and martial feudalism, the ability for animators to blend contemporary locations and themes and those from history and fantasy alike is uniquely anime.

Having inspired new waves of media and art and reinvented plenty of old ones. Japanese anime has redefined the way the world looks at animation and perceives the cultural impact of what would have once been considered "cartoons". Anime has established animation as an art form.

Having only grown in world popularity, anime in the modern day is an internationally recognized industry and genre with dedicated internet followings and rabid communities full of fans all proudly calling themselves "Otaku". Each year hundreds and thousands of anime conventions are held and attract droves of fans eager to share their passion.

The term "Otaku" is taken from a Japanese phrase and is used to describe one with an interest or passion that is obsessive and deep. Western fans of anime have proudly attributed this term to themselves to describe their love of Japanese animation and the word can seen commonly in many communities and social circles.

Without a doubt Anime has taken the way the world views animation and brought it into a more polished and premiere level of respect and authority. Regarded as an art medium capable of expressing a wide variety of plots, themes and subjects with beauty and style, Manga is by all means a forced to be reckoned with. As any Otaku can tell you, anime is truly an incredible visual experience.
