In 1976 the Domestic Council Committee on the Right of Privacy prepared a report entitled National information policy: report to the President of the United States. This report was published by the National Commission on Libraries and Information Science (NCLIS).
Information is created in many original forms, to satisfy the creator and to suit the user. Once created, the information is disseminated using a range of media and means of transmission.
Information gathering and transmitting is almost as old as civilization itself.
