Steve Swanson is the host of The MuppetCast, a weekly podcast dedicated to the work of Jim Henson and The Muppets. In 2005, Steve and his wife went to WDW on their honeymoon. Neither one of them had been to the parks since they were small children, so the experience was almost like a "first time" trip for both of them. They were completely blown away by the magic, and their experiences sparked what will surely be a lifelong love for Disney.
Steve has been a Muppet fan all his life, and experiencing MuppetVision 3D at then then-named Disney's MGM Studios also re-ignited his love for all things Muppet.
Upon returning from their Disney honeymoon, they experienced what we all know as "the Disney blues". After finding a few unofficial Disney podcasts by pure luck, and over the course of 2006 finding many, many more, Steve decided to try his own hand at podcasting, and hence The MuppetCast was born. This show has brought him much closer to the Disney online fan community, as well as the Muppet fan community. It's a very warm and fuzzy feeling.
About the Disney-Muppet connection, Steve says, "Muppet magic is a lot like Disney magic, except I think that Muppet magic is more of a purplish color, and is a little bit stickier." Doing a podcast about the Muppets, he says, allows him to really explore both camps. "I've made some very good friends in the Disney circle," he says, "as well as some great friends in the Muppet world." Past guests on The MuppetCast include writers Jim Lewis and Jocelyn Stevenson, producers Martin Baker and Pete Coogan, and Muppeteers David Rudman, Dave Goelz, and Kevin Clash. He looks forward to many return trips to the Disney Resorts and Parks, as well as meeting more and more Disney fans; people who, like he and his wife, just can't get enough of the magic.
