Good service providers must also handle the sales in a satisfying and profitable manner. Pleasing personality and good marketing skills are required of them, for they should explain the product working to the customers.

Service advisers should have a good dressing sense and must possess effective listening skills. They must listen to the customer with care and patience. Computer knowledge is also necessary, sometimes along with a strong mechanical knowledge.

Many companies hire candidates having completed basic high school. This not true at all times. A driving license is a must along with a clean record. They are given training by senior automotive service advisors. Training is started by learning to fix small bugs. Training with a service adviser trainer is also given to estimate the cost and compute the necessary information.
