One thing is for sure during this horrible economy, people are still working out as much if not more than they did before we started this slide. If you are a trainer, this may be the time for you to step out on your own.
Growing a personal training business is something that could be very easy to do if things continue on the road that they are currently on. One of the very first things that anyone has to do when they are going to begin a business is to create a business plan.
This is the model that is going to let you know if you are going to need financing, if your business has a chance and things that you never even thought of. This is something you will want to spend some quality time on to ensure that all of your projections are correct.
The company name and logo are two things that you are going to have to decide on very early. They are not only a part of your business plan, but these are going to be two keys to your marketing, especially your logo. If you are not a graphic artist, spend the money to get one done for you that looks professional.
The next thing you have to figure out is if you are actually going to make money. Again, this is part of your business plan and will give your investors and yourself an idea if the business will be able to hold its own. It is also going to get you thinking as to how you are going to be getting your customer base.
Once you get the ball rolling, it is time to get your name and logo out there. Before you start putting things out in print, you will want to develop a blog or website. If you are not starting out with a lot of money, simply purchase a domain name and then upgrade a blog service.
You can use their templates and your customer base will not be aware that you are using a blog because the upgrade allows you to use your domain. Have every piece of information about your business that you can think of on here so the traffic that you send there will be able to see what you are all about.
Your first personal trainer tools is going to be your business cards. Load up your pockets with them every time you walk out the door and put them in everyone's hands. The more people that you can get the word to, the better. Use a site like Vista Print if you don't have the cash for them. You can get them printed there for the cost of shipping.
In addition to your business cards, you are also going to want to get some nice flyers printed up that you can have your friends put up around their office and that you can hang up around the local gyms. You have a captive audience there and you are going to want to take advantage of it when growing a personal training business.
The last piece of the puzzle is going to be the services that you offer and for how much. Remember, you are trying to generate business and you need to give people a reason to leave their current provider and come with you. Give them a little more bang for their buck and offer them incentives to send their friends your way. Before you know it, that appointment book will be loaded up!
