How To Replace a Printer Cartridge

HP Printer might not function if there is a problem with cartridge. The power light might blink until the problem cartridge is resolved. this might occur after installing new cartridge or anytime.

If a cartridge replacement was not tried previously to solve this problem, replace the problem cartridge now.

How To Replace a Printer Cartridge

  1. Press the Power button to turn on the printer.
  2. Open the printer cover. The carriage moves to the center of the printer.
  3. Push down on the print cartridge and slide it out of the carriage.

  5. Remove the replacement print cartridge from its packaging and carefully remove the plastic tape. Hold the print cartridge so that the copper strip is on the bottom and facing toward the printer.
    CAUTION:Do not touch the print cartridge ink nozzles or copper contacts. Touching these parts will result in clogs, ink failure, and bad electrical connections. Do not remove the copper strips. They are required electrical contacts.
  6. Slide the replacement print cartridge into the carriage at a slight upward angle, and then press up and forward until the cartridge snaps into position.

    • The black or photo cartridge goes on the right.
    • The tricolor cartridge goes on the left.
  8. Close the printer cover.
WARNING:Keep both new and used print cartridges out of the reach of children.
