Regardless of what industry you work in, many times the right tool for the job just might be a PC. Other times it may be a Mac. I use both on a day to day basis to effectively run my business. Being a graphic designer and also an IT professional, there are rare days that I could go without either the Mac or PC. Each have their own strong and weak areas and I find that utilizing each platform for what it does best provides increased productivity when working with a wide variety of topics.

I use my Mac primarily for graphic design using the Adobe Creative Suite. I create and maintain websites and do a wide variety of print graphics ranging from t-shirt designs to book covers and brochures. Although I also have the PC version of the Adobe software, I prefer to design on a Mac. Creature of habit I guess, but it works for me.

I use my PC for email and Remote Access to worksites for Windows Server and XP system administration, system upgrades, troubleshooting and  basically anything that can be handled remotely. I also like the PC for the wide variety of utilities that are written specifically for the PC platform.

Ok, to bring them both together for a unified super efficient solution. Remote Desktop Connection client for Mac. Download Remote Desktop Client for Mac.

Download and install the client on your Mac and connect to your PC via RDP and you now have access to your Mac hard drives and printers from the PC session. This makes it real handy if you attach files stored on the Mac using Outlook or another PC email program. This setup works especially well on a dual monitor Mac with the RDP client set to display the PC session on the secondary monitor.

Once this is setup you can share hard drives, printers and even transfer the clipboard between Mac and PC!

This same setup also works well with Servers, PC clients, etc. But for the person that grew up with a Mac and prefers to use a Mac but must use a PC (such as a graphic designer), this setup brings both platforms together in a nice ascetically pleasing way.
