We live in a world of constant change and everyone seems to be logged on 24X7. Today, almost every third person owns a laptop, which is why they come in various sizes and colours to suit everyone's need. One needn't rush back to their offices in order to get work done because today, most of the people carry their work with them wherever they go. This particular feature of laptops is its biggest advantage! Today, even the cheapest laptops are well-equipped in terms of RAM and disk space, and can be updated at any time for a comparatively nominal amount.

Some believe that laptops are not exactly better than desktops but are definitely more portable. It is definitely the convenience aspect that scores big with loyal desktop users when it comes to them changing over to laptops. Even though laptops today are progressing in terms of their configuration, desktop computers are better equipped to handle heavier applications. If you notice, people working in design companies or gaming departments always prefer using a desktop to a laptop. The other advantage that a desktop has over a laptop is the fact that it is stable and has the option of upgrading to a larger, clearer screen.

The price factor however, is a big differentiating factor. Laptops today are found to be cheaper than desktops and start from as little as Rs. 25,000 for mid-sized laptops and Rs. 13,000 for notebooks. This is especially beneficial to college students who are found to be hooked onto the Internet constantly and also have to regularly submit various projects and papers. Thus, they can complete their assignments from the comfort of their bed or from a distant coffee shop.

Laptops have an added advantage to work on battery power. Once the laptop is charged it can work on the wireless mode for at least three hours. With wireless Internet available now, you don't need to constantly sit near a plug point! Thus laptops are seemingly the preferred option as it is more user-friendly than desktops.

In conclusion, laptops have a string of benefits attached to it. A laptop is portable, lightweight, can be easily moved around, has the option of being wireless and can be connected to an overhead projector for AV presentations. Thus, while students can be constantly plugged into their work via laptops, teachers can use it in classroom discussion to make it more interactive. Owning a laptop for businessmen and working professionals today seems like a necessity as they are constantly travelling and cannot afford to neglect work.
