just what you are looking for. This tiny printer-sitting at 10.4 inches deep,
15.4 inches wide, 13.5 inches tall and weighing only 30 pounds-is one of the
smallest, least expensive color laser printers on the market.
The Samsung CLP 300 is capable of printing letter- (8.5" x
11"), legal- (8.5" x 14") and A4-size paper (8.25" x 11.7"), as well as labels,
transparencies, envelopes and cards. First print out time for monochrome print
jobs is 14 seconds, and much slower, 26 seconds, for color prints. Print speed
also varies quite a bit for monochrome and color prints-14 ppm and 4 ppm,
respectively.
The 150-sheet paper tray holds a wide array of paper sizes,
ranging from card-size (3" x 5") to legal-size. However, the tray is expandable
to 8.5" x 14". The simple control panel consists of a "Cancel" button and LED lights
signifying toner levels, however, the Samsung CLP 300 comes equipped with the Samsung
Smart Panel that enables you to change any configurations through your
computer. The Samsung CLP 300 uses unique toner cartridges called "canisters".
Unlike typical color laser printers that use toner cartridges with image drums,
the drum is kept separate from the toner, which keeps the canisters small-3.5"
x 2.25". The canisters are located directly behind the cover panel, which saves
space and makes changing toner a simple, quick process.
If you think that your printing needs might change in the
near future, the Samsung CLP 300 may not be the best choice, as many standard
features cannot be upgraded or expanded, including the printer's 32 MB of
memory and the paper capacity. Overall, the Samsung CLP 300 is not the fastest
printer on the market, nor does it produced the highest-quality prints, but if
you are looking for a printer to meet basic, home or daily operational small-business
needs while saving space and still staying within a small budget, this printer
could be just what you need.
