When considering the HP Color LaserJet CM4730 printer, consider that just a few moments spent with this highly versatile and extremely capable all-in-one or multifunction printer will be more than enough to tell one that Hewlett-Packard has again produced an extremely likable printer model. It isn't cheap by any measure, but most anyone who's put it through its paces has said that it is well worth the cost, considering its versatility.

For evidence of how really versatile the 4730 is, just take a look at the maximum monthly duty cycle. Hewlett-Packard rated at 175,000 impressions per month, which is a number far over and above what many other multifunction printers out there in its market segment can handle. Monthly duty cycle refers to how many pages per month a printer or copier can produce before needing any sort of maintenance.

As far as its printing speed, the 4730 does outstanding work in both color and monochrome. It can kick out nearly 31 pages a minute in both modes and this is also something that most other all in ones or multifunction printers priced within the 4730's segment can't really come close to matching what this HP can do without even really trying.

In its copy machine capacity, the 4730 matches up just as well as it does when it is acting as a stand-alone printer. It will be able take any document and enlarge it up to 400% from its original size as well as bring it down to around 25% of its original size. It performs automatic duplex (two-sided) printing and it also can kick out nearly 1000 copies per single copy task.

The quality of the print that emerges from the 4730 is uniformly excellent and it has a standard 600 dpi resolution. This means that anything that comes from either the printer or the copier will look clear and sharp and won't suffer from any smudging or blurring. HP has added one of its image enhancement technology tools to enable it to produce clear copy the way it does.

Included memory for the 4730 is a very nice 448 MB. This can be upgraded slightly to 576 MB of RAM fairly quickly, as well. Hewlett-Packard has also included a 40 GB hard disk drive to handle most any memory needs that the workgroup or network might have. Additionally, it can be connected to a workgroup quite easily with parallel, USB and Ethernet connectivity available and ready to go.

In terms of the number of operating systems that the 4730 can make use of, there are quite a few. This includes almost any type of Windows-based Platform (Including Vista) as well as Linux, UNIX, IBM OS/2 and several others. There is a one-year, on-site warranty and the printer and copier can hold 1600 sheets of paper while also printing out on a wide variety of media types.
