How To Save or Make Word Document As a Web Page

Web pages are viewed using a web browser. When the page is loaded, there are specific instructions to guide the browser on how to display the page. These instructions are in HTML(Hyper Text Markup Language). This means that after you have written your document in word, you need to convert it to HTML format to be used as a web page.

Converting a word document into an HTML document is done when saving. Click the File menu, then select Save As HTML. A Dialog box appears for you to enter the name. type the name and click the Save button.

If you select Save As without HTML option then you can select the webpage option at save as type drop down menu of the dialog box. You type in the filename.

Before saving you are asked if you would like to check the internet for a new version of Microsoft's Web Page authoring tools. If you click No Word saves your document.

After saving, you will notice that the standard toolbar has been modified to include icons that you can use to work with your Web page (HTML document).

When satisfied you can copy this document to the computer where you want the page to be if different from the current computer.

Using Web PageWizard

Word includes a web page wizard that assists you to create Web pages faster. The Web Page Wizard is stored as a template. To start the Wizard click the File Menu, select New, click the Web pages Tab, and then double click the Web page Wizard document. Through a series of dialogs you are led step-by-step in creating a Web page. In these steps, you are asked to choose a layout, a style which gives the background, as well as other features. Follow the steps.
