How To Put/ Create/ Make a Shortcut of Programs or Files on Desktop

Because it is tiring to open a lot of windows to find a program, it would be easier if you just create a shortcut of your often used program or file  by putting it right on your desktop or a common folder, then start the program from the desktop every time you want to use it. Shortcuts  are ‘turbo-charge" way to start a program or file. Faster than using start up.

When you create a shortcut on desktop it will appear on the desktop as an object next to other object like my computer, My networks places, my documents, drives etc. just double click the object to run or start it. lets create a shortcut for a common program like internet explorer.

There are several methods for creating a program shortcut:

From open folder

 Select My computer ::: Drive C::: Program files ::: internet explorer

Click to open internet explorer folder and click the object called IEXPLORER with the right mouse button, hold the mouse button down, and drag it out onto a blank portion of the desktop. If you release the mouse button a menu appears. Choose create shortcut(s) here.

You can also click on the object called IEXPLORER with the left button and choose ::: send to ::: desktop ( create shortcut).

From Start Up Menu

Click Start ::: All Programs ::: Left click Internet explorer ::: send to ::: Desktop( create shortcut)

During Installation

Some programs during installation allow you to choose an option of creating shortcut to the desktop or start up programs. It can also create shortcut to desktop automatically.

Now you see a new object on your desktop called shortcut to IEXPLORER. You can double-click this object to at anytime to start the paint program. Some of these same methods may work when you try to create shortcut to a certain Folder.
