The term ‘American Dream’ is in danger and it might be replaced by the words ‘Indian dream’, at least in India. Indians have always been attracted by the far shores and a size able chunk of the Indian Diaspora lives in America. Made in America used to be a huge draw, but now Made in India is good too. Nowadays people in India are brand conscious and may spout brand names of designer labels, but the word ‘imported’ isn't used much while showing-off.

Not too long ago the mentality of most young people from middle-class families was to find some way of going ‘foreign’—usually the US or UK. The craze for studying abroad has persevered, but the economic growth of India and number of new jobs in India, and the country’s growing stature as an international power has caused this mentality to change.

India has not been blown away by the winds of economic tempest that shook the world; it has thrived, and although the economic downturn slowed its sprint towards economic domination to a jog, it has continued to grow at a rapid rate. And now that the dark storm clouds have dispersed and sun is shining again over word economy, the massive Indian economy is again growing at over 10% every year.

Over a million new jobs in India were created during 2010, and a recent survey by an eminently trustworthy agency has concluded that over 1.6 new jobs will be created in India this year. A lot of these jobs are at managerial level and they pay quite well. The earnings of companies in the Health, Infrastructure, IT, Education, Retail and many other sectors have been fantastic and they companies are now confidently eyeing foreign market, and are planning to take over huge corporations in developed nations.

As high-skill sets pay well enough in India, the talented Indian professionals are opting to stay in India and fuel the country’s roaring economic engine instead of leasing their expertise to the highest bidders. Earlier, Indians educated in western nations used to be bogged down by the economic restrictions that stifled their entrepreneur abilities, and the corruption rampant in daily life that smothered their spirit. But the new India is propelled by young professionals with an aggressive attitude and business acumen.

The large number of jobs in India and the availability of better lifestyle (at least in big cities and towns) has not dampened the attractions for the far shores, but it has created a possibility of a rich life in India, and the youth of India is grabbing it with both hands. And they are not just stopping at taking good jobs: the ones that bag the best jobs, and get the best education are not afraid to blaze their own trail and create more jobs in India.

The trend is definitely changing as India emerges as one of the top global destinations for international investors; NRIs who previous role was sending money to relative back in India are now flocking to their native country to get a piece of the giant pie called Indian economy.
