Throughout history one of mans favorite treats has always been fruit. Goshen’s fried bananas puts a spin on this classic treat by frying it to a wonderful golden brown sweet flavor. This recipe can also works well with your favorite fruit or any other fruit you prefer.  Goshen’s fried bananas are also nice drizzled in honey and dusted with powdered sugar. Goshen’s fried bananas are also nicely garnished with mint leaves.

Serves 4

Ingredients

· 1 cup(about 128 grams) of all purpose flower

· 4 firm bananas

· 1 egg

· ½ teaspoon(about 2.5 grams) of baking soda

· 6 tablespoons(about 90 milliliters)  of water

· 2 tablespoons(about 28.6 grams) of shredded coconut or 1 tablespoon(14.2 grams) of sesame seeds

· Salt

· Oil for deep-frying

· 2 tablespoons (about 30 milliliters) of honey to serve in a small bowl

Instructions

Step 1: Sift the flour, baking soda and a pinch of salt into a large mixing bowl. Next stir in the sugar and whisk in the egg and just enough water to make a thin batter. Also whisk in the shredded coconut or sesame seeds. A hint for Goshen’s fried bananas would be to whisk in a teaspoon or two of cinnamon if you like cinnamon.

Step 2: Peel the bananas and carefully cut them lengthwise and in half. Then heat the oil in a preheated frying pan. Then dip the bananas in the batter made in step 1 and gently drop a few pieces at a time onto the hot oil. Then fry dipped bananas until golden brown.

Step 3: Remove the bananas from the oil when golden brown and drain on a plate with a paper towel on top of it. Then serve immediately with the honey in the small bowl on the side and garnished with mint leaves. Goshen’s fried bananas are ready to enjoy and if desired dusting the powdered sugar on top is also a nice touch.
