Goshen's southern style buffalo chicken wings

In this southern style buffalo chicken wings recipe marinating your chicken wings beforehand is optional. (Refer to Goshen's Baked Chicken Recipes for marinating procedures remember this would be 4 hours or 24 hour marinating time before the chicken wings would be ready to cook.  These southern style buffalo chicken wings recipe is a home style southern treat that is good for any occasion.

Ingredients:

  • Vegetable oil for deep frying
  • ¼ cup(50 milliliters)  of hot sauce
  • ¼ cup(50 milliliters) of butter
  • Pinch of ground black pepper
  • Pinch of garlic powder
  • ½ cup(125 milliliter) of all purpose flower
  • ¼ teaspoon (1 milliliters) of cayenne pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon (1 milliliters) paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon (1milliliters) of salt
  • 10 chicken wings

Step 1: Combine the garlic powder, hot sauce, butter and pepper in a sauce pan. Cook on a low heat (simmer) until butter and ingredients are thoroughly combined. Put the sauce just prepared in a container and store until needed.

Step 2: In a bowl combine the paprika, salt, all purpose flower and cayenne pepper and mix thoroughly. Roll the chicken in the flower mixture and put the chicken into a new bowl or on a plate. Cover the chicken and put it in the refrigerator for 60-90 minutes.

Step 3: Heat the oil in a deep fryer to 375 degrees (190 Celsius). Make sure that there is enough oil to cover all the chicken wings from bottom to top. If you don't do this you have a mess, not Goshen's southern style buffalo chicken wings.

Step 4: Take the coated wings out of the refrigerator and put them in the deep fryer. Cook the coated wings for 10-15 minutes or until the wings begin to turn brown. Remove the wings from heat (Tip: if you want to get extra oil off of the wings put a paper towel on the plate when taking the wings out of the deep fryer) and put on a plate. Take out the hot sauce mixture made in step one. Either pour the sauce on the wings or use it as a dipping sauce. Goshen's southern style buffalo chicken wings are ready to be served.
