Mewi's sausage sandwich is a wonderful party food, snack, meal, or appetizer depending on how its prepared. This recipe is a very quick and easy solution for almost any food type occasion. Mewi's sausage sandwich can easily be turned into an appetizer by cutting up the sandwich into bit size pieces and sticking a toothpick through it for finger food and quick on the go bites.

This sandwich is also a wonderful snack or quick lunch on the go for all you globe trotters out there. Overall Mewi's sausage sandwich is a wonderfully quick and tasty sandwich for everyone to enjoy.

Serves: 4

Ingredients:

  • 8 hot dogs, or sausages of your choice. (preferably Frankfurt sausages/hot dogs)
  • 4 hamburger buns or soft rolls
  • 1 small bag of spinach
  • 1 small block of Canadian cheese, (or a cheese of your preference I would recommend something with strong cheese flavor)

Optional

  • Ketchup (Heinz is always nice)
  • Mustard (Pick your favorite)

Directions:

Step 1: The first step in Mewi's sausage sandwich is to cook the sausages. Most prepackaged sausages will already be precooked and will only take 1-5 minutes to warm up either through a microwave or in a frying pan without oil. For raw sausages make sure that it is thoroughly cooked all the way through to make sure there is no raw parts. Raw food can make you very ill or worse.

Step 2: While the sausages are cooking slice the cheese and place it on the top half of the buns or soft rolls facing up. Put the 4 rolls or hamburger buns facing up on a cooking tray/cookie sheet and turn on the oven grill or oven to melt the cheese and crisp up the buns/rolls.

Step 3: The next step in Mewi's sausage sandwich is after the hotdogs/sausages have been cooked put them on a cutting board and cut them in half down the center. Then cut the halves in half once more so that each sausage/hot dogs are in 4 pieces. After this make sure to pull out as much spinach as you desire on your sandwiches and wash them thoroughly.

Step 4: After the cheese has melted on the burger buns/ or rolls pull them out of the grill oven/ or oven and place on plates. Then stack 8 slices of sausage on each burger bun/roll and top with your preferred amount of spinach. If you desire add your desired amount of ketchup and/or mustard on top of the sandwich and put on the melted cheese top of the roll on the sandwich.

(Tip:  if you want to make appetizers out of the sandwiches cut the sandwich into smaller pieces with a toothpick through it and put the ketchup and mustard in small bowls on the side..)
