No one factor causes acne. Acne occurs when sebaceous (oil) associated with hair follicles are stimulated at the time of puberty by elevated levels of male hormones. Sebum (oil) is a natural substance which lubricates and protects the skin.

Home Remedies for Pimples
1. Rub fresh garlic on and around pimples. Pimples will disappear without a mark with regular applications. Garlic kills bacteria that cause acne.

2. Apply some garlic juice on your face for an hour once a week. Do not store for long, as it may aggravate sensitive skin.
3. Mix 1 tablespoon groundnut oil with 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice to prevent formation of blackheads and acne.
4. Pods ground chicken leg and leaves and mix with fresh lemon juice and apply on pimples. This is also good for pimples and blackheads.
5. Apply juice of raw papaya (including the skin and seed) on swelling pimples or acne.
6. Use lemon juice mixed with a glass of boiled milk as a face wash for pimples, blackheads and cracked skin.
7. Mix the lemon juice and rose water in equal parts. Apply on affected area. Wash after 20-30 minutes with lukewarm water.
8. Apply ripe tomatoes pulp on acne or cucumber or pimples and keep up to 1 hour after washing.
