Are you wondering where all the crochet sites are on the net?   Fear not fellow hooker - your days of creating craft in isolation are over!   There are literally thousands of crochet enthusiasts sitting in (not-so) quiet corners of the web sharing their latest work.

After learning to crochet as a child, I cast aside my hook for many years - picking it up again two years ago, I became seriously hooked.    It wasn't too long before I was craving the company of other lovers of the art, but all I could find in my community was knitters, an endless stream of K1P1-ing knitters.   So I took my search online.

The net is a treasure trove of free patterns and craft forums!   I personally subscribe to a number of newsletters, my favourite being Talking Crochet with Carol Alexander.

But the one that has taken global e-crafting by raging storm is Ravelry, an online community of knitters and crocheters that will leave you crying sweet tears of joy.   A place to post pics of your work, inventory your stash, plan your upcoming projects and interact with like-minded souls in literally thousands of groups - whatever you're into, you will find it on Ravelry!  From "Psychic Knitters" to those who feel the need to crochet vegetables - seriously.

Yet even on Ravelry, the ratio of knitting to crochet is still very one-sided and there are those that believe crochet has been languishing in knitting's glamorous shadow for far too long.   Whilst knitters have both hands full with two needles, crocheters the world over have been using their free hand to plot a course to world recognition and in the not too distant future, world domination!   Like the crochet extremists over at the Crochet Liberation Front.   Or another personal favourite of mine, the Microfiber Militia, a group of avid crafters slowly covering Chicago in crochet graffiti.  I love it!

If you like your crochet groups a little bit more intimate, you're also welcome to join my small but happy group at OzCrochet.   There is a whole world of crochet out there - so go!  Enjoy!  Hook In!
