As we look at the Characteristics of an entrepreneur many of them are the same as any characteristics that define successful people. Some have said the psychology of an entrepreneur stems from confidence, a sense of urgency, the attraction to a challenge, and it is these feelings that drive them to success.

Often those same feelings combined with the dissatisfaction of a previous work experience is what lead them to take risks and start new businesses. The ability and willingness to change their point of view under pressure, or when new information comes in is very important. This is also important as it is a necessity to eliminate the obstacles as they come and think of solutions for the problems when they occur.

They have the ability and the willingness to make decisions with the lack of any solid information and have generally a risk taking personality. They really thrive on the challenges posed by the risks and those risks associated with a new business project can be the perfect challenge for them.

In a small business the entrepreneur is able to personally manage nearly all the tasks the business needs. There could be management issues if the entrepreneur doesn't recognize that actually managing and running a large stable growing business is very different from managing, running, and growing one.

Finally as we look at the characteristics of an entrepreneur, Confidence set the pace in their ability to succeed: This high level of optimism may explain why some of the most successful entrepreneurs have failed in business more than once - before finally succeeding.
