Choosing the colours for wall painting is easy when you go by proper colour schemes. To make any space look bigger than it actually is i.e. create an illusion of space, colours play a prominent role. Light colours no doubt help to a greater extent in making cramped spaces look spacious, the trick lies in using them rightly on the walls.

Below are a few colour combinations that you can try to give your home a bright and airy feel and look.

For the ceilings: Ceilings form an important part of the entire wall painting job. Cream and white have been the favorite colours as far as ceiling paints are concerned. Both of these are light colours and go with almost every colour and thus can be used to give a high ceiling effect. You can also go for a lighter version of the paint colour that you have used for the walls of the particular room, for instance if you have painted the room violet, the ceilings can be painted with lavender colour.

For the walls: Cool colours are ideal for making the walls look lit up. Light colours absorb less amount of heat and reflect more light resulting in cooler and spacious looking interiors. Olive greens, buttery yellow, beige etc can be used. The lighting colours that are generally yellow or white also compliment these paint hues.

For the Bathroom: Bathrooms consist majorly of tiles and paints are used to cover-up the remaining space. You can choose a paint that is in sync with your tiling colour scheme. For instance if you have used aqua blue coloured tiles you can make use of sky blue coloured paint to make it look soothing. If your tiles are in shades of white then light grey would enhance the look the best.

For the Kitchen: The scope of wall painting is high in the kitchen. You can choose from some appetizing colours like sesame yellow, cranberry red and many more that will remind people entering the kitchen about food and end up increasing their appetite.

For the Exteriors: It is always recommended to choose exterior paints that are light in colour. As said earlier lighter colours absorb less heat which means the interiors and exteriors will remain cooler. Shades of taupe, off whites, yellows and grays would do wonders.

To make your home look bigger and brighter following one of monochromatic or a bichromatic colour schemes is recommended. You can do this easily with the help of shade cards or online software and make it a fun filled exercise. The end result is sure to surprise you and leave your home looking no less than a masterpiece.
