The idea of home decoration is to give your home a new look – after all, everything needs to be changed once in a while to spice things up. But when you’re decorating, you don’t always need to look at a room as a single entity. Each room in your house is a part of the whole, and you need to treat it as such. So whatever your interior design ideas are, take into account that you can’t make a room standalone by itself. You’d walk from one room into another and feel as if you’ve entered a different house! Another thing to consider is this: what happens if you can view different rooms from a single room? If the other rooms seem to belong to different houses, you’d have a problem of different incompatible colours clashing. But follow these simple tips and you’d have a better coordination of paints throughout your house.

It’s a simple enough matter to your colour combinations. Start with what you’ve got – do you have a rug or a painting that you especially like? Pick a shade out of those and use it as the dominant colour. While you’re at it, pick two more shades from the colour palette. You can then use the 60-30-10 rule to spread it about the room. The dominant colour takes up 60% of the decoration, while the 30% becomes the secondary colour. The 10% becomes the accent or the trim. Usually, you can carry on the trim from one room to the other to create a sense of connection. You can use any moulds or furniture to create the same sense of flow. While you’re decorating a single room – consider lightening things as you go up. Continue this in each room and you create a pattern. Dark shades at the bottom – like the floor and furnishings; medium shades in the middle – like the walls or the curtains and windows; and light colours at the top – the ceiling, primarily.

Generally, you’ll get palettes that pretty much every paint company gives out. Try tying together shades that are similar and vary in intensity out of them, like blue and green. If you don’t like those hues, pick ones that you do. This is a very important aspect of home painting – you need to love what you’re doing. Forget fashion and trends – pick out what your own style is, what your comfort level is and follow that, instead. After all, you’re the one who has to live with it.

Painting is must for every room of the house. But choosing right colour for every different room is not lesser than any challenge. So get knowledge about paint colour while selecting them for wall painting and home decoration.
