If Facebook were a country, it would be the 8th most populated in the world, just ahead of Japan & Russia said by Mark Zuckerberg, The owner and founder of Facebook (social network).

Social networks are like opening a stall on a busy shopping mall. It's free, but you still have to staff it, and find ways of grabbing attention. Still, the speed of distribution (see: Chain Reaction and Ripple Effect) is high, and word of mouth powerful.

Create your "depth of content" on external broadcast sites such as YouTube (videoblog), Flickr (photoblog) and Blogger (text or multimedia blog). Then use Facebook, MySpace, LinkedIn, and many other social networks to distribute that content. Because social networks are personal profile not groups. Create Fan-Page, groups and events to bring connections together into channels for discussion. Use applications to provide interactive promotion and awareness.

Tip: Brand Fan pages are different from Brand Groups. With Fan-Pages, mutual friendship is not required, and you have metrics such as how many people visit a page, unique views, become a fan and graphs. Groups may appear more authentic.
