Importance of Female Education
It was shocking to hear that girls' schools were bombed by some extremists in the city of Peshawar. There is a sense of fear among the students as well as their parents as an after effect of these bombings. The extremists have threatened to bomb all girls schools in the mid of January'09.
Unfortunately, we live in a patriarchal society where male dominates and the women are treated in most regions as inferior. Being inferior her rights are only guaranteed by the male counterpart. If it's ok for him she can do what ever she like to and if not then the scenario is different. Only about a few percentile of women are literate.
This is a demise state of affairs that our women are not getting education. It is a well-known fact that an educated mother can educate the whole family. The present state of ignorance and illiteracy cannot to be tolerated. The strict seclusion of women and the conservative attitude towards women, who are considered inferior to men, are the factor responsible for keeping women backward in the field of education. However to let the women uneducated, is to jeopardize the entire future generation.
Uneducated mother can be a hindrance to future progress and enlightenment. However what we need in respect of women's education in our country is something more. We need a system of education better suited to the requirements of girls than what we have now. We need more primary schools for our girls so that the largest numbers of girls can be taught domestic hygiene, needle work and cookery. A general knowledge of social sciences like history, civics, geography and an acquaintance with modern science and literature should also be taught.
Ironically, we don't possess a good rate of literacy and with such efforts of destruction, who could ever think of improvement. The situation is likely to be more pathetic.
