Asif Ali Zardari's connections with his late-wife Benazir Bhutto and his connections made him the talk of the First Husbands Club. The man who is allegedly the murder of Murtaza Bhutto is Pakistan's Newest President. Who does he have to thank for his political success? The late-Benazir Bhutto. The man who gained the most out of Benazir Bhutto's success is her widower, Asif Zardari. He has always wanted to become the leader of Pakistan. Now, Asif Zardari is given that opportunity.

There are some political players in this game. Condoleeza Rice, Zalmay Khalizad of the United States department have been instrumental in achieving the wishes of the President Bush administration. We all know the tragic death of Benazir Bhutto and the sacrifice she made for democracy. What Asif Zardari has shown is that he knows politics very well and if rules do not suit him, he does not have to abide by them. After all, rules were meant to be broken. He talks about Benazir Bhutto as the great symbol of democracy, but he hardly mentions anything in regards to the founder of Pakistan, Mohammad Ali Jinnah. Father Jinnah dedicated his whole life to political service and won the people's hearts and minds. Father made the dream of Pakistan in to a reality. Father Jinnah picked Pakistan as among the greatest nations of the world at a time when the future was optimistic yet not a guarantee.

Benazir Bhutto had the Harvard and Oxford education, she had the political connections throughout the world and her father's legacy to follow her. Asif Zardari just married the right woman to achieve his goal. Is he responsible for the murder of Benazir Bhutto's brother, Murtaza Bhutto? What about that famous BMW Case against him? If he is unfit to be tried in a court of law in Britain, regarding his real-estate in the United Kingdom, shouldn't he be unfit to be President of Pakistan?

Now, the Pakistani Military has taken the step back in Politics. We can not expect the military to bail us out of this problem. This is the reality of democracy. We complain about Asif Zardari's Presidency, but we are the ones to blame for not taking the initiative to get involved in Pakistan's politics. But the way things are going to improve is when people realize that they need to be active in Politics. Pakistanis have acted like a spoiled child who gets allowance from his parents. Now, there is no one to give the spoiled child any allowance and he has to find work on his own. Pakistanis have been lazy when it comes to politics. The only way we can get out of this mess is by our own courage and initiative. We must build each other's self-esteem in the world of politics not destroy it. It is easy to destroy self-esteem of people and a challenge to build up self esteem. You never know when your friend could be the gate to opportunity for you.

Asif Zardari is the symbol of Pakistan at it's present state. Yes, most of us do not like it. But we have to accept the reality and work towards changing the reality. We can not expect politicians to be super heroes and clean up the mess that they created. We have to initiate the drive for a new political blood and turn our hopes in to realities. The first step towards any movement in Pakistan is participation. Time and time again, the districts that are the most successful are the districts with the most participation. Where there is apathy, there is lack of success. The only time we see a middle class person running for a national assembly election is the time when that person has little chance to win the election against a power house.

Asif Zardari's Presidency will inspire unity. Unity at what cost and with what result is the key question. What has made Asif Zardari the most successful politician? He understands the political game. He knows that Nawaz Sharif once jailed him and he too has jailed Nawaz Sharif's father as well. The politics that the feudalists play are the politics of revenge. They know how to make people to agree with them to get people on their side. They will say one thing and play another game. They persuade you to think they are on your side for you to agree with them. They know that if they showed their true cards, you will not agree with them. But what would Father Jinnah say to all this? He would be very disappointed at the state of affairs for Pakistan.

If Father Jinnah would come back for one day to lead Pakistan once again, Pakistan would make over 1000% improvement on it's own affairs. It is important to remind Asif Zardari of Father Jinnah's principles. It is also important to remind Asif Zardari that Father Jinnah founded Pakistan. If Asif Zardari truly cared about Father Jinnah, he would have Father Jinnah's posters all over Pakistan rather than his own. He should condemn the chumchas who have jumped on to his bandwagon. He should also donate the billion dollar empire of his to create research institutions, manufacturing plants, and technological institutions to make Pakistan in to a 21st Century, modernized nation. The choice is Asif Zardari's. The alternative is to return to the politics of the 1990's.
