In the world of American Politics, Senator Barack Obama needs Uncle Sam in his team.  This Uncle Sam will truly be a Dream Ticket for America.  Democrats need a Vice President who has the experience.  Two liberals are not a unity ticket.  A unity ticket consists of liberals and conservatives.  Many are encouraging Senator Barack Obama to put New York Senator Hillary Clinton on the ticket.  Yet she is not the only woman mentioned, Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius has been mentioned as another possibility.  But Senator Obama needs Uncle Sam.  Who is this Uncle Sam?  Is it John Edwards?  Or is it Bill Richardson?  Or is it some older person from our past, such as Sam Nunn?  This Uncle Sam has to be a mentor to Senator Barack Obama.  This person shares their experience with Senator Barack Obama.  These are the popular names being suggested.  It seems like the Media is picking the Vice Presidential candidates for us.

Those that have been following Senator Barack Obama and the talks of potential Vice President nominees have heard of numerous possibilities in choosing a running mate that best matches their views.  They tried with Virginia Senator Jim Webb as well as Hillary Clinton herself, and even went forward with names like Evan Bayh.  But none of these figures seem to offer the fatherly mentorship that Senator Barack Obama will need in the executive branch.  Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius would be a wonderful asset to Senator Barack Obama.  She will provide the internal leadership that he will use as an asset.  A woman of her caliber will capture the heart of the red states.  She is very motherly and not a masculine female figure that Hillary Clinton was.  She would be an asset in a President Barack Obama Cabinet.

However, Senator Barack Obama needs a fatherly mentor whose experience and wisdom will be an asset to him.  He needs someone who comes from a different environment than him.  He does not need anyone with  star power, but he needs someone who has the knowledge and experience in dealing with national security issues.  Someone Senator Barack Obama can call an uncle.  That man is Uncle Sam Nunn.  Yes, he may not be the ideal Democratic candidate, in terms of some Democrats, because of his past  "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy.  But for Gays and Lesbian community to achieve greater rights, we have to win over the conservatives like him.  His recognition of that policy being outdated is a step in the right direction.  When you have people like Sam Nunn willing to change, then you have someone to work with and someone you can support.

Sam Nunn is a man you can truly call Uncle Sam.  He is an Uncle Sam in a special way.  He has had experience protecting our national borders, as he has served in the U.S. Coastal Guard.  He understand the world that we live in today as he is CEO of Nuclear Threat Initiative.  With countries like North Korea, Iran and Saudi Arabia seeking to go nuclear, that is something that Sam Nunn has already worked to prevent and contain.  He is the behind the scenes man that does not take credit for things that are not his.  He also served as the Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee.  His resume is that of someone who has wisdom within the world we live in.  He is new to the present scene, although he has the experience.

Senator Barack Obama needs Uncle Sam Nunn behind him.  It will be refreshing to see a Vice President who has had a major academic institution such as the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs at Georgia Tech named after him, before he becomes Vice President.  Sam Nunn is an old school person who is willing to listen to new school ideas.  More people will feel comfortable voting for Senator Barack Obama if he selects someone of Sam Nunn caliber as his Vice President.  He has had experience in diplomacy and has been considered as a Vice President nominee in the past.  Yes, there are those who are opposed to Sam Nunn.  But no matter which Vice President nominee Senator Barack Obama chooses, each one will have their own controversy.  Therefore, it is important that we select Uncle Sam Nunn as the Vice Presidential nominee.  He will help Senator Obama in the South.  Yet, he is also an older person that has experience in the Senate.  Senator Obama could truly call Sam Nunn his Uncle Sam and our Uncle Sam.
