Jill Tracy Jacobs-Biden is the eldest of four daughters. Her father was the head of a savings and loan. Her mother was a homemaker in Willow Grove, Pennsylvania where Jill grew up. Jill was born in Hammonton, New Jersey June 5, 1951.

The possible soon-to-be second lady has an impressive background in the field of education. Jill attended the University of Delaware.  After earning her Bachelor of Arts Degree she taught high school English classes. She was also a reading specialist. In addition, she worked with students who were emotionally disturbed.

Jill gave birth to the Biden's daughter, Ashley in 1981. During this time she took a leave of absence from her teaching profession to raise her daughter as well as her two stepsons, Beau and R. Hunter. The two boys suffered serious injuries in an automobile accident, in 1972, in which their birthmother, and sister were killed. The three are now grown and have careers of their own. Ashley is a social worker. Beau is the Attorney General of Delaware. R. Hunter is a lawyer. The three children have given the Biden's five grandchildren.

Jill returned  to teaching and earned her Master of Arts Degree in English in 1987 from Villanova University. She received a second Master of Arts Degree in 1991 from West Chester University. Last year Jill earned her Doctor of Education Degree in educational leadership. She earned this degree from the University of Delaware. Since 1993 Jill has worked at the Delaware Technical & Community College as a professor of English.

Joe and Jill first met on a blind date that was arranged by the Senator's brother, when the future Mrs. Biden was a senior in college. After meeting in 1975, they were married two years later in New York City. The family-only ceremony had Beau and Hunter stand with the couple at the altar. Since this was a joining-together-of-the-family the two boys also joined the bride and groom on their honeymoon. The couple presently lives in Wilmington, Delaware.

Aside from her teaching career Jill is also involved in a number of community service activities. She is the president of the Biden Breast Health Initiative. This organization, founded 15 years ago, provides free educational breast health awareness programs to schools and various organizations in Delaware. Jill also works with a group, Delaware Boots on the Ground, who supports military families. Jill is also a member of Book Buddies. This group gives books to children from low-income families.

Jill Tracy Jacobs-Biden plans to return to her teaching job, for the fall, 2008 semester, and campaign for her husband on the weekends. The wife of Joe Biden has an energetic schedule facing her in the near future no matter which house she resides in.
