According to Fox News Analyst Bill Kristol, Colin Powell will support Senator Barack Obama for President.  This is a major development in American Political news.  Some thought that Colin Powell would not publically endorse a candidate.  But if the sources are correct, then this means that Colin Powell wants to exercise his influence and let the people know his political views, at least, in a shape of a candidate.  Some people may think it is a risky move, but it is a move that will only hurt the John McCain Campaign.

Everyone sees Colin Powell as a key figure of unity and someone who has respect across aisles.  Colin Powell also resembles the diversity leadership in the U.S. Military.  His ability to work with different people was a key asset.  But his recent time as the Secretary of State in the President Bush's administration saw him being a more proactive figure in diplomatic works.  Colin Powell brought people together and had to be a leader during a challenging time that consisted with 9/11, the War on Terror and the Iraq War.  For him to support Senator Barack Obama at this important time will be to symbolize the support structure behind Senator Barack Obama.  Many respect Senator Barack Obama, yet many more respect Colin Powell.

Some say that "Colin Powell could have been the first Black President."  For one Presidential material to support someone like Barack Obama is to show that Barack Obama does have important support from key people.  Most importantly, Barack Obama has the trust of a former Secretary of State who has served in the military.  While an endorsement from someone like Condoleezza Rice is not expected for any candidate, her added value could even bring more people from the Republican side to support Senator Barack Obama.  This support of Senator Obama will definitely empower Senator Obama's candidacy as a President.

Colin Powell's endorsement signifies the importance of the 2008 Presidential Elections. This only adds more value to the event and will make some Republicans reconsider their support for Senator John McCain.  Colin Powell must take advantage of his power and use his influence to advocate for the issues he believes in.  Colin Powell's influence does matter in this election.  His endorsement does matter for many people.  Senator Barack Obama's youth is a concern for many. Some are scared of Senator Barack Obama because of their personal fears of someone who is different, unique and liberal. Colin Powell's endorsement will show that these fears are nonsense.

Colin Powell is going beyond the GOP.  Colin Powell will earn greater respect from many who believe that he may be a typical one party supporter.  Colin Powell's value in this election has risen and he must take advantage of his influence for his views to be reflected.  For Colin Powell to have to have to courage to make an endorsement in the 2008 elections, and an endorsement not for the past, but for the future, is courageous.  The idea of Colin Powell endorsing Barack Obama for President is beyond politics, it is historical.
