While living in big cities we hardly pay attention to the animal and plant life around us. Overcome with the city's hustle and bustle and the rush of our day -to-day activities. Few of us get any time or chance to observe what other life forms are surviving alongside.
In fact, in our bid to expand our cities, we have not cared about the other inhabitants of the planet and have consciously or unconsciously destroyed their natural habitat.
But there are some people who have a keen interest and sense of observation, not only to take note of but also to study these presumably insignificant beings that not only add color to our lives but are also of great value. Who else but a naturalist would have ever given a thought to the house sparrows ,who perform their shrill soap operas on the balcony outside the bedroom or peep into the holes of old trees and corners of the building to check on the living conditions of owls and other birds who call these places home or watch people from all walks of life feeding large numbers of birds and notice the table manners of different species at these feeding sessions.
Cats and dogs are the most popular pets in our part of the world but hardly any one except cat /dog lovers have noticed their habits and behavior .One must watch how cat catches her prey and teach their young ones to do the same and how they express their feelings to their owners.
The need of the hour is to preserve each and every species to maintain a balance in nature .We can do this by sending the right message to future generations and not glorify talking parrots, dancing dolphins and elephants standing on large balls.
