Iraq bids Ammo Baba farewell
Iraqi sport lost a jewel. A man that was in the service of the Iraqi football for more than half a century, Ammo Baba died in a hospital in Duhok region at 75 years old. Alsumaria Channel pays its sincere condolence to the family of the late. In the details, a day after his death, the body of the late was brought to Irbil accompanied with a large number of sportsmen, and government officials in Kurdistan region, before being transported on a private jet to Baghdad where he will be laid to rest. Ammo Baba died while he was being transported to Azadi Hospital in Duhok after he entered a sudden Coma. Actually he is considered one of the best Iraqi and Arab football coaches and he helped the Iraqi National Football team to make a lot of achievements. Ammo Baba received many medallions for the great results he achieved with Iraq National Team. He was also granted the title of coach of the century by Iraq Journalists Syndicate in 2000. When Ammo Baba was the coach of Iraq National Team, the same won Gulf cup 3 times, it won the golden medal in Asia League in 1982, World Military Cup in 1979 and he also led Iraq National Olympic team in the finals of the Olympics in 1984 and 1988, as well as Arab League in Jordan in 1988. He coached Al Zawra’ and Talaba teams and helped them too win Iraq Super League and Iraq Cup. To that he supervised many clubs such as Al Rashid, Al Ramadi, AL Mosul, Salaheddine and Al Quwwa Al Jawwia.
