Beirut - As expected President Michel Suleiman hosted Wednesday a reconciliation meeting between Progressive socialist party leader MP Walid Jumblat and Marada Movement leader Suleiman Franjieh. Following the meeting Suleiman hosted the two leaders for lunch at the Baabda palace


Prior to the meeting Jumblatt told An-Nahar newspaper that the reunion is part of his bid to "drop the old barriers and move forward with efforts to achieve national reconciliation ? and forge a relationship of trust and understanding with the various parties."

Jumblatt did not make any statement before leaving Baabda palace today

Wednesday

4:10 pm PM Saad Hariri : "Deliberations of the Ministerial Statement Committee on Tuesday were very positive,” . He stressed that he is keen on reaching an agreement between all the parties over the Statement.

3:02 pm LBC from Baabda: The meeting between Jumblatt and Franjieh was excellent , the ambiance was positive and both agreed not to make any statements following their meeting

12:18pm Marada movement leader Suleiman Franjieh met with Egyptian ambassador Ahmed al-Bidyawi in Rabiyeh. The two men discussed Egyptian-Lebanese ties and current situation in Lebanon.

12:16pm Berri from Baabda palace: Baabda is where all Lebanese meet. Things are going fine on the ministerial issue.

12:15pm PM Saad Hariri received a phone call from Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas who congratulated the premier on the formation of the cabinet.

10:50 President Michel Suleiman is meeting with Speaker Nabih Berri at Baabda palace.

9:15 VOL: A grenade exploded underneath a vehicle in the eastern town of Majdal Anjar. A military expert went to the scene to investigate the blast.

8:20 MP Ahmed Fatfat told VOL: It is difficult to set a deadline for drafting the policy statement. The issue of Hezbollah’s arms will be discussed on the dialogue table.
