"This I say therefore, and affirm together with the Lord, that you walk no longer just as the Gentiles also walk, in the futility of their mind, being darkened in their understanding, excluded from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardness of their heart; and they, having become callous, have given themselves over to sensuality, for the practice of every kind of impurity with greediness." (Ephesians 4:17-19).

Today's Proverb addresses adultery specifically and all sins in general. For example, when you have a sensual relationship outside of marriage, you are playing with fire that will not only burn your clothes, but will burn your life and all that you own and represent to the ground. Sin is a dangerous activity.

We see lots of evidence of people destroying themselves in the news, especially those that have political, sports or celebrity status, yet the people who are in the business of entertaining us rarely will show the serious consequences of adultery. We need to be straight with ourselves, our neighbors, colleagues and especially our children (teens & young adults).

"Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled; for fornicators and adulterers God will judge." (Hebrews 13:4).

Proverbs 6 - Teaches us today?

Proverbs 6:27 "(27) Can a man take fire in his bosom, And his clothes not be burned?"

Psalm 86:14-17 "(14) O God, arrogant men have risen up against me, And a band of violent men have sought my life, And they have not set Thee before them. (15) But Thou, O Lord, art a God merciful and gracious, Slow to anger and abundant in lovingkindness and truth. (16) Turn to me, and be gracious to me; Oh grant Thy strength to Thy servant, And save the son of Thy handmaid. (17) Show me a sign for good, That those who hate me may see it, and be ashamed, Because Thou, O Lord, hast helped me and comforted me."

Today's question. The image of sin consequence?

God has given us a clear image of the consequences of sin through the sons of Aaron and the nephews of Moses. Nadab and Abihu were priests who had been taught the proper way to worship God including how to handle the holy sacrifice. Teachers and leaders of God's people are held to a higher standard. They must take God's words seriously and if they do not, then how is it possible to hold other's accountable. "Now Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took their respective firepans, and after putting fire in them, placed incense on it and offered strange fire before the Lord, which He had not commanded them. And fire came out from the presence of the Lord and consumed them, and they died before the Lord." (Leviticus 10:1-2).

We are encouraged by others all the time not to think of sin as serious. We are told to let our hair down and do our thing. Just don't get caught. Well all sins are wrong and we must say that sin is wrong. Lastly, sin is against God.

"Against Thee, Thee only, I have sinned, And done what is evil in Thy sight, So that Thou are justified when Thou dost speak, And blameless when Thou dost judge." (Psalm 51:4).

Dear God, thank you for accepting our repentance and responding to our pleas for forgiveness. We give you praise in the name of Jesus. Amen.
