Bet On Righteousness

"Then Jesus said to him, "Put your sword back into its place; for all those who take up the sword shall perish by the sword." (Matthew 26:52).

This was the response from Jesus to Peter when he removed his sword to protect Jesus from being arrested. His concern was that Peter would perish if he resorted to violence. Violence and the folly of sin in general can lead to destruction of sinners. If one takes advantage of another in a sinful way, that person will in time be hurt by sin and come to regret his/her sinful actions over time.

There are times when sin is glorified, e.g., in movies, books and even in our own real world observations. It appears that some people get away with it. Don't fool yourself. No one knows the full story of another. Even people who write their own autobiographies do not reveal the total truth. God clearly teaches the following:
"Assuredly, the evil man will not go unpunished, But the descendants of the righteous will be delivered." (Proverbs 11:21).

Proverbs 1 - Teaches us today?

Proverbs 1:19 "(19) So are the ways of everyone who gains by violence; It takes away the life of its possessors."

Psalm 72:5-7 (Theme: Blessings On God's King). "(5) Let them fear Thee while the sun endures, And as long as the moon, throughout all generations. (6) May he come down like rain upon the mown grass, Like showers that water the earth. (7) In his days may the righteous flourish, And abundance of peace till the moon is no more."

Today's question. Bet on righteousness?

"Hate evil, you who love the Lord, Who preserves the souls of His godly ones; He delivers them from the hand of the wicked." (Psalm 97:10).

How many monuments do you know have been built to gang leaders? Who do you know, who made their fortune by taking from others through the use of violence and became a person of great respect for our children? But there are better questions:

What will you say to God when you stand before Him in judgment? What did you do with the life that God gave you? These are serious questions the answers of which should be considered by everyone.

"Light is sown like seed for the righteous, And gladness for the upright in heart. Be glad in the Lord, you righteous ones; And give thanks to His holy name." (Psalm 97:11-12).

As a plant struggles to put forth the most beautiful flower it can, so should the children of God. We are like the seeds of light sown by God to bring forth fruits that honor and glorify Him. Be glad to live in His righteousness and bloom greatly in His kingdom.

Dear God, I ask for your blessings as I struggle to bloom. Amen.
