"Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me." (John 14:6).

Have you ever had a conversation that begins; I can't believe God would let people in Africa go to hell because they did not become Christians? I can't believe Jesus is the only way to God? I can't believe God will let me go to hell, if there is really such a thing, when I am basically a good person.

A scoffer or scorner is a person who thinks so highly of themselves that they put their thoughts before God's thoughts. When a scoffer makes the statement; ‘I can't believe God would...', then they are saying that their thoughts are higher than and better than God's thoughts. For example, ‘I think God must be greater than to allow only one way to him.' After saying such a thing the scoffer always looks at people who disagree with them with contempt.

Proverbs 22 - Teaches us today?

Proverbs 22:10 "(10) Drive out the scoffer, and contention will go out, Even strife and dishonor will cease."

Psalm 63:9-11 (Theme: Thirsty For God). "(9) But those who seek my life, to destroy it, Will go into the depths of the earth. (10) They will be delivered over to the power of the sword; They will be a prey for foxes. (11) But the king will rejoice in God; Everyone who swears by Him will glory, For the mouths of those who speak lies will be stopped."

Today's question. What is your testimony?

The real question is not whether someone else is going to become a part of God's family, the question is will you? When a scoffer is pontificating about what he/she believes by showing off their logic, the best things you can do is to share with them what God is doing in your life. You see, no one can disagree with the testimony of a sincere person. They may not believe you, but they certainly cannot disagree that you believe what you are saying is true.

"Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believe Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life." (John 5:24).

If you have reached some level of spiritual maturity you should be able to point to multiple things that God has done in your life. You can always point to the fruit of the spirit and how these fruits are manifested in your life: "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control..." (Galatians 5:22-23a).

But you don't have to stop there. By sharing detail ways God has performed miracles in your life, how God has changed your life, how you wake up in the morning with the expectation and excitement of what God is going to do today, these things cannot be held in contempt by a scoffer. In fact, after a good testimony is shared in the presence of a scoffer, you can't but help to feel sorry for those who do not know God.

Dear Jesus, the best testimony for me to give is my own. Thank you for writing that testimony for me each day of my life. Amen.
