"In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God." (John 1:1-2).
Some would say that humans evolved from animals and lower forms of life only to reach a point where the ultimate purpose is to be happy. Some would even compare humans to dogs were the purpose is to find or breed the best dog in accordance with some standard established by someone. Where will evolution take knowledge? How does wisdom evolve, to say nothing about love, joy, hate, disappointment and all human emotions that are displayed daily?
God made humans different, so different in fact, that out of love for us; He decided to become one of us (Jesus Christ). It is difficult to imagine that God would want to become any type of bird, fish, insect or animal and to indwell anyone of them with the Holy Spirit.
"And God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them." (Genesis 1:27)
God also gave us great intelligence with the ability to greatly increase our understanding of His world. Solomon is teaching in this proverb that God gives mankind wisdom, knowledge and discretion.
Proverbs 8 - Teaches us today?
Proverbs 8:12-13 "(12) I, wisdom, dwell with prudence, And I find knowledge and discretion. (13) The fear of the Lord is to hate evil; Pride and arrogance and the evil way, And the perverted mouth, I hate."
Psalm 31:11-13 (Theme: A Prayer In Time Of Distress) "(11) Because of all my adversaries, I have become a reproach, Especially to my neighbors, And an object of dread to my acquaintances; Those who see me in the streets flee from me. (12) I am forgotten as a dead man, out of mind, I am like a broken vessel. (13) For I have heard the slander of many, Terror is on every side; While they took counsel together against me, They schemed to take away my life."
Today's question. Have you ever experienced a miracle?
Jesus performed many miracles and healed many people during His ministry. Only some of these are recorded in the Bible and one is taught in John chapter 9 where Jesus heals a man born blind. When inquired of by the Pharisees: "He therefore answered, "Whether he is a sinner, I do not know; one thing I do know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see." (John 9:25).
Psalm 31 is a prayer in times of distress. Verses 9-18 are the prayers of someone suffering from a severe illness like leprosy. There are many miracles done everyday by God in the lives of men and women. Most of these are very difficult to explain, but when it happens to you...you know. Indeed, there have been many things that have happen in our lives that one cannot logically explain. When these things happen, they are not designed to be shown off or broadcast, but these things happen to show each individual that there is indeed a God.
Dear God, I don't have any doubt of your existence. You have done many things in my life that I can only attribute to your love, grace and immense blessings. Thank you and I give you praise. Praise that is only for You and not to be shared by me or anyone. It is only You that I praise. Amen.
