"At that time Jesus answered, and said, "I praise Thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that Thou didst hide these things from the wise and intelligent and didst reveal them to babes." (Matthew 11:25).

If you think you know it all, that you have one of those types of egos that allow you to feel that you are great and wonderful irrespective of your true accomplishments...God considers you a fool. If you have gained much education, graduated from several universities and have become an expert in your field, boasting in your accomplishments...God considers you a fool. If you are a great high school athlete, better than all of the other players and you stick your chest out as being great...God considers you a fool. If you are unable to receive direction, coaching or rebuking because you think that no one should tell you anything...God considers you a fool.

"For consider your calling, brethren, that there were not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble; but God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong, and the base things of the world and the despised, God has chosen, the things that are not, that He might nullify the things that are, that no man should boast before God." (1 Corinthians 1:26-29).

The wise person only needs to be rebuked once and he/she will take the rebuke seriously, think long and hard about it and use it to change themselves. You can beat a fool until you pass out and it will do little good.
Proverbs 17 - Teaches us today?

Proverbs 17:10 "(10) A rebuke goes deeper into one who has understanding Than a hundred blows into a fool."

Psalm 75:6-10 (Theme: The Silver Lining). "(6) For not from the east, nor from the west, Nor from the desert comes exaltation; (7) But God is the Judge; He puts down one, and exalts another. (8) For a cup is in the hand of the Lord, and the wine foams; It is well mixed, and he pours out of this; Surely all the wicked of the earth must drain and drink down its dregs. (9) But as for me, I will declare it forever; I will sing praises to the God of Jacob. (10) And all the horns of the wicked He will cut off, But the horns of the righteous will be lifted up."

Today's question. Does the Lord just have to look at you?

I remember when our parents took us to church or on a visit somewhere and we would began to act up, all it took was a look. When you got the look, you knew it was time to straighten out, not later, not slow down, but stop whatever you were doing right now. A good student, athlete, a good employee or a person who is trying to learn something from you, will listen carefully to instructions.

Similarly, if a person has failed at something and you point it out to them they take it to heart, because it hurts them that they have disappointed you. As strong as Peter was, he was this type of person.

"And the Lord turned and looked at Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how He had told him, "Before a cock crows today, you will deny Me three times." And he went out and wept bitterly." (Luke 22:61-62).

It was Peter who was chosen by Jesus upon which to build His church and establish Christianity. He did not choose the arrogant, the one who always thought he was right, nor did he choose the powerful, the rich or any that would boast, because the credit goes to Jesus. The credit goes to God. If you have need of boasting: "Let him who boasts, boast in the Lord." (1 Corinthians 1:31).

Dear God, I know, sometimes my head has been a little thick. Sometimes, you have had to tell me more than once; I just did not want to listen. But praise to You that you did not give up on me for I could never repay You. Amen.
