"Beloved, while I was making every effort to write you about our common salvation, I felt the necessity to write to you appealing that you contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints." (Jude 1:3).

The walk we take is in the way of righteousness, a way that each of God's children chose when we accepted the very special gift of salvation and spiritual birth from our Lord. These ways of righteousness are the teachings and wisdom of the Bible which we learn through study, with the help of the Holy Spirit.

Solomon in today's Proverb is discussing wisdom. When we walk in the way of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of justice we are taking firm steps in the way of our Lord. These are wise steps, sure steps, and correct steps leading to a goal or destination He has given us. When we are ready, there are times when God will call us to go.

God told Abram (later renamed Abraham) to go; "Now the Lord said to Abram, "Go forth from your country." (Genesis 12:1a). God called Moses to bring His people out of Egypt and He said to Moses; "Therefore, come now, and I will send you to Pharaoh, so that you may bring My people, the sons of Israel, out of Egypt." (Exodus 3:10). Jesus gave similar directions to the apostles He chose; "The next day He purposed to go forth into Galilee, and He found Philip. And Jesus said to him, "Follow Me." (John 1:43).

Proverbs 8 - Teaches us today?

Proverbs 8:20 "(20) I walk in the way of righteousness, In the midst of the paths of justice."

Psalm 73:15-20 (Theme: Faith Reborn). "(15) If I had said, "I will speak thus," Behold, I should have betrayed the generation of Thy children. (16) When I pondered to understand this, It was troublesome in my sight" (17) Until I came into the sanctuary of God; Then I perceived their end. (18) Surely Thou dost set them in slippery places; Thou dost cast them down to destruction. (19) How they are destroyed in a moment! They are utterly swept away by sudden terrors! (20) Like a dream when one awakes, O Lord, when aroused, Thou wilt despise their form."
Today's question. Where do we find wisdom?

The Bible was written for God's children. Indeed, if you are outside of the family of God, much of the Bible is impossible to understand. Some of it is deliberately made more difficult for the non-Christian.

"But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God; for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised." (1 Corinthians 2:14).

Wisdom is found in the teachings of God. It does not come into our minds and hearts automatically, but to gain wisdom requires study. At first, when we are spiritually immature there are only some things we can understand, but later with study, we begin to see the wisdom of God.

"And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual men, but as to men of flesh, as to babes in Christ. I gave you milk to drink, not solid food; for you were not yet able to receive it." (1 Corinthians 3:1-2).

What must we do to walk in righteousness? The answer is to study God's word. How fast you become wise depends upon how much you study.

Dear God, teach us. Amen.
