"Does a fountain send out from the same opening both fresh and bitter water? Can a fig tree, my brethren, produce olives, or a vine produce figs? Neither can salt water produce fresh. Who among you is wise and understanding? Let him show by his good behavior his deeds in the gentleness of wisdom." (James 3:11-13).

I have seen wisdom operate in the lives of Christian men and women all my life. Wisdom is color blind. It does not matter the race or ethnicity. Wisdom is ageless. It does not matter how old or young you are. Wisdom is gender neutral. You can find wisdom in both men and women and in boys and girls.

When my father's mother died, his older sister had to immediately assume the task of running the household on a farm that required 100% of my grandfather's attention. In addition to my father, there were three other children to raise, one of which was a baby. Fortunately, my grandfather's sister took over raising the baby, but every thing else was left to my aunt who was a young girl herself at that time.

Her conversion to Christ is an amazing story in itself where immediately after giving her life to Christ; she saw ‘everything as being new'. The gift of wisdom God gave her holds her in good stead even to this day. God is her Father, Jesus is her friend, the Holy Spirit is her teacher and wisdom is her rock.

Proverbs 8 - Teaches us today?

Proverbs 8:15-16 "(15) By me kings reign, And rulers decree justice. (16) By me princes rule, and nobles, All who judge rightly."

Psalm 44:1-3 (Theme: The Perplexed Lament of a Defeated Nation). "(1) O God, we have heard with our ears, Our fathers have told us, The work that Thou didst in their days, in the days of old. (2) Thou with Thine own hand didst drive out the nations; Then Thou didst plant them; Thou didst affect the peoples, Then Thou didst spread them abroad. (3) For by their own sword they did not possess the land; And their own arm did not save them; But Thy right hand, and Thine arm, and the light of Thy presence, For Thou didst favor them."

Today's question. In today's Proverb who is ‘me'?

The first person pronoun, me, is wisdom. The point of the Proverb is that kings, judges, rulers, leaders, politicians all are better off having access to the wisdom of God. Wisdom allows kings to rule justly and wisdom allows nobles to judge rightly.

There are so many leaders today who do not have access to the well of wisdom. They do not know her and they do not know God. The wisdom they use is from the world and not from above.

"But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your heart, do not be arrogant and so lie against the truth. This wisdom is not that which comes down from above but is earthly, natural, demonic. For where jealously and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and every evil thing. But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without hypocrisy. " (James 3:14-17).

Seek those who have wisdom from God.

Dear God, we give you praise for those you bring into our lives who know wisdom. They are a joy to behold, they are fun to be with and they bring peace that exceeds all understanding. Praise God. Amen.
