"But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh in regard to its lusts." (Romans 13:14).

The young man is on his way to class and just as he gets to the door of the academic building, where he is to receive wisdom and instruction, a whisper comes from down the hall from a beautiful young woman who says, ‘some of us are going to skip class today and go to the lake...you want to come, it will be fun'. A decision has to be made.

"And I discovered more bitter than death the woman whose heart is snares and nets, whose hands are chains. One who is pleasing to God will escape from her, but the sinner will be captured by her." (Ecclesiastes 7:26).

Temptation is never ugly or distasteful. It is always attractive and beautiful. Men have to be especially careful when looking upon the female form of a skillful seductress. How do you escape? Most young men are not taught how, nor are they able to recognize the wiles of certain women. But the problem is much worse. They do not want to learn.

Proverbs 7 - Teaches us today?

Proverbs 7:16-17 "(16) I have spread my couch with coverings, With colored linens of Egypt. (17) I have sprinkled my bed With myrrh, aloes and cinnamon."

Psalm 37:16-22 (Theme: The Wickedness of Man & the Goodness of God). "(16) Better is the little of the righteous Than the abundance of many wicked. (17) For the arms of the wicked will be broken; but the Lord sustains the righteous, (18) The Lord knows the days of the blameless; And their inheritance will be forever. (19) They will not be ashamed in the time of evil; And in the days of famine they will have abundance. (20) But the wicked will perish; And the enemies of the Lord will be like the glory of the pastures, They vanish-like smoke they vanish away. (21) The wicked borrows and does not pay back, But the righteous is gracious and gives. (22) For those blessed by Him will inherit the land; but those cursed by Him will be cut off."

Today's question. Is it better to tear out your eye and throw it away?

Jesus said in Matthew 5:29: "And if your right eye makes you stumble, tear it out, and throw it from you; for it is better for you that one of the parts of your body perish, than for your whole body to go into hell."

The tools of temptation today are many. There is the Internet, cell phones, text messaging, social networks, cameras, recording devices, etc. All of which can be used for good or evil. Perhaps it is better to stop using those devices, if they are being used for evil, before your tear out your eyes.

Remain focused. A person with goals is less likely to stray toward the programs of temptation. Achievers are focused. Non-achievers are distracted. Those that do not want to learn are many. In fact, they are most. The righteous go to class rather than skipping school for they know they have a mission, a purpose and a higher calling.

Dear God, protect our children. Dress them in armor. Keep them from falling. Amen.
