"Finally, be strong in the Lord, and in the strength of His might. Put on the full armor of God, that you many be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil." (Ephesians 6:10-11).
I see young men and old men, young women and old women, trying to handle crisis and challenges alone. This is a grave mistake designed by the evil one to isolate and defeat you. For no one, even in relatively easy tasks, can do their absolute best without the help of others.
I use to spend every summer on the farms of my grandfathers. There were times when a farmer, his family and even with hired hands could not complete a task alone. They needed additional help and sometimes the knowledge of other farmers and neighbors would be necessary. It was during these times, that neighbors would congregate and lend a helping hand. Indeed, it was fairly common to do many tasks together. For example, bringing in the harvest, one farm at a time with all of the relatives, help and others from all cooperating farms pitching in.
But the biggest help they gave each other was prayer. You see God loves to see people work together and He responds to corporate or intercessory prayer. "Be on the alert, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong. Let all that you do be done in love." (1 Corinthians 16:13-14).
Proverbs 24 - Teaches us today?
Proverbs 24:5-6 "(5) A wise man is strong, And a man of knowledge increases power. (6) For by wise guidance you will wage war, And in abundance of counselors there is victory."
Psalm 20:1-3 (Theme: A Prayer For Victory - For Kings) "(1) May the Lord answer you in the day of trouble! May the name of the God of Jacob set you securely on high! (2) May He send you help from the sanctuary, And support you from Zion! (3) May He remember all your meal offerings, And find your burnt offering acceptable!"
Today's question. Who is our struggle against?
"Now I urge you, brethren, keep your eye on those who cause dissensions and hindrances contrary to the teaching which you learned, and turn away from them." (Romans 16:17).
Solders have always known that if you separate and isolate your enemy, he can be easily defeated. "For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places." (Ephesians 6:12).
If you are trying to do things alone, without the help of others, you have one of two problems. (1) You have come under the influence, possibly indirectly, of world forces led by Satan. (2) You have a strong will and too much pride. Pride will come before the fall. "Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before stumbling." (Proverbs 16:18).
While many great preachers are preaching, there are people in prayer during his sermon delivery. These people are usually in a separate room bathing the pastor in prayer while he completes his work. It is not just preachers who need prayer while they are working. We all do. Therefore, gather around you, many prayer warriors to help you through difficult situations. When you are going through your hellish challenges, tell everyone, involve everyone for it is under these helpful circumstances that you will ultimately be victorious.
Dear God, I cannot do it alone. Send me your thousands and ten-thousands and with your strong arm, I will be victorious. Amen.
