When you are planning an event, catering will often play a big part in the overall effectiveness and impact of the event. Finding the best caterer for your event will take some time, but does not need to be the impossible task that you may think.

Most caterers are very departmentalized. The caterer may provide fabulous services in one type of catering, but not be as good with another type. Therefore, it will be very important that you know what kind of services you want. There is a different in the assistance required for a buffet style meal versus a sit-down style meal.

Besides the style in which the food is served, you will also need to decide on the type of food you want. Caterers often focus on specific types of cuisine. If you want to have unique ethnic food served at your event, it will be wise to have a caterer who has the skills and ability to create those types of foods.

Other services offered will include set up and clean up for the event. Some caterers only collect their pans and utensils. Other caterers offer full service and provide complete set up and clean up at an event, including providing dishes and utensils for the guests. When the event is over, they return and clean up the entire area.

When you begin your search for the perfect caterer, a good place to start is with people you know and events you have been to. Talk to friends, co-workers, and family who have had events such as the one you are planning. They will be able to provide you with information regarding the caterer they used and will let you know if any issue arose with the service or company.

When you are contacting caterers, find out what their specialty is and only interview those caterers who specialize in providing the types of catering experiences you need for your event. Keep your list narrowed to those caterers who have the capability and capacity to meet your needs. During phone interviews, asking about the number of people on staff and the past experience of the caterer with your type of event will help you to gauge if they have the experience required to meet your requirements.

After compiling your list of potential caterers, meet with the manager to discuss the specifics of what you will need, the costs involved, any hidden fees that may exist. Also ask about the policy of the provider regarding delivery and pick-up of the food, pans, and utensils. In some cases, the caterer will have a package price that will include all of the services required for an event that is based on the number of people attending the event.

TRCB.com
