The classic reasoning for a bachelor party is to celebrate the Groom's final night as a "free" guy. This reasoning can take on a whole spectrum of interpretations. Make sure you are very clear on what the Groom expects when planning his bachelor party. You probably know him more than a lot of people, so if he's the kind of guy that doesn't particularly delight in strippers and keg stands, he probably won't enjoy it any more now.

Whatever you plan for the bachelor party is open to a whole realm of possibilities. Bachelor parties hold the reputation of being drenched in alcohol and populated by a crowd of strippers, but this doesn't apply to all men. Once again, make sure you know what the Groom has in mind. If he prefers to spend the night playing pool and drinking beer, don't rent out a huge party house with a topless completely female staff and a team of bartenders.

Make a guest list and pick a good date well enough into the future so that all of the Groom's friends can attend. Decide what kind of menu you plan on having, and call a catering company well enough in advance to book for the night you want. If there's going to be drinking, consider in hiring a limo or another form of transportation so everyone can get home safe.

More and more bachelor and bachelorette parties are being combined. Don't get offended if the Groom decides he wants to share is party with the Bride. Bachelor parties can be pretty awkward to talk about with the Bride, and combining the two parties generally eliminates this problem. Don't be disappointed since you won't get to hire strippers. The Bride's girlfriends will be there, they'll just be wearing significantly more clothing.

It's nearing the Big Day and you are on the home stretch. Get plenty of rest, because wedding days are long days, and you don't want to be phasing out during the party. Even though I know you won't cry, pick up some tissues before the wedding. I'm sure someone will need them. Your part in the wedding is very special, and you want to be able to perform to the best of your abilities. The Groom chose you to help carry him through this very special day, so be proud of that.

Remember to keep your speech natural and sincere. This best mans speech is your opportunity to let the Groom know how much you value his friendship and his loyalty. Practice your speech and be prepared, but really, don't stress to much about it. Best man speeches are difficult for everyone, even professional speakers. Making a mistake in your speech happens more often than not, so don't get to down on yourself if you mess up. No one expects you to sounds like Martin Luther King Jr. And most of all, just have fun. It is just a party after all.

TRCB.com
